Frequently Asked Questions
Why our courses are free?
We work in partnership with colleges across the country to deliver high quality, fully funded, adult learning. These colleges act as a funding conduit for the Education & Skills Funding Agency.
All our fully funded courses are subject to government eligibility conditions, however, we will go through this with you at the start and inform you which college your course will be funded through.

How long it will take me complete the course?
We plan around a 6 to 8 week course, but it really depends on you and your current level of skills, experience and commitment. We will remain as flexible as we can and work with you to provide a course tailored to your needs.
What is a Traineeship?
This is a government funded training programmed for unemployed 19 to 24 year olds without qualifications above a Level 3.
It is an exciting programme that includes Functional Skills in English and Maths, Essential Digital Skills (for those that need them), Employability Skills, Introduction to Mental Health Awareness, and a work-placement.
We also include our own unique element. This will be a course that is relevant to the type of work you are wanting to get into. Typical examples include SIA Course in either Door Supervision or CCTV (plus the SIA License to work), CSCS Test and Card (including the Level 1 Health & Safety Construction Environment qualification for Green Card labourers), etc.
Can we help those whose English is not their first language?
Yes, we do this really well.
We have a number of multi-lingual Tutors that are expert in helping learners improve their English skills.
We still aim for everyone to achieve a Functional Skills qualification; however, we can adapt our delivery to give it an ESOL style to help achieve this.
Can I do just one Functional Skills course?
We like to support all our learners achieve their potential in both English and Maths through our fully funded training.
However, if you have already achieved Level 2 in either of these then we will be happy to provide the English or Maths course that you don’t have.
Am I able to progression to higher level qualifications?
Progression is a term used when the qualification you have achieved allows you to progress / move in to registering for a new course that is linked.
Example: If you have achieved Functional Skills English Entry Level 3, you can now progress to enrol for the same course at Level 1, the next level up.
How do we treat our learner’s data?
Learning & Skills Solutions are registered with the ICO (Information Commissioners Office) and comply with all the regulations around GDPR/Data Protection. All personal information received will be treated as confidential and only used in the pursuit of providing you with funded training.
